Nice colors and focus is spot on and digging the shallow dof. Very nice capture.

Looks like a tricolored black bird, not a redwing, with the yellow stripe right below the red. I could be wrong.

thank you skybaby and you are right i wasnt sure i just guessed and there is definitely the yellow stripe there (thats what i get for guessing lol)

thanks rick the shot disagreed heavily with my body but i said eh what the hell i only get this chance once ! i laid down right in the middle of a putting green and took a bunch of shots of a few different birds but it seems that the only blackbirds were the most friendly!

Actually, the Redwing does have a yellow band below the red shoulder patch. The Tricolored, in addition to being uncommon and largely restricted to the California coastal area, has a white edging to the red patch.

well i really need a bird book :) good call jon i will visit hasting and look to see what one is right and hope that i caught something rare but believe its just a common fun little bird all just the same :)

Beautiful shot, I really like the way you handled this one. I love Redwing Blackbirds, they are hard to get good shot here, they are very skittish.

In case it matters, I have not heard of a Tri-Colored Blackbird before you brought it up, very interesting, we don't have them here.
