Finally bit the bullet and ordered my 5d mark III from amazon before they start charging us in Cali sales tax. The thing I don't remember is do batteries usually come with any charge in them? I have a football game I want to shoot at 7pm, I can shoot with my 40d or give this new toy some action, perhaps an hour of charge time will give me enough juice to have some fun... I feel like a kid on christmas eve!

It usually comes at least 80% charged. Just put it on charge while you drive to your game.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

you should be fine with the battery, and will be blown away by the mark III....Prepare to never touch your 40d again

You should be able to get a full or near full charged battery in 1 hr if you take it out of the box and plug it right in (and resist the urge to put it in the camera first ;))

congrats on the new body!

I absolutely love it. Right away you notice the speed difference between the 5D Mark II and the 5D Mark III. Some of the menus changed a bit but after about 30 minutes of playing with it I couldn't put it down. Here's a few that I shot this weekend.
