I saw the 'Wimborne Whoppa' advertised and thought I'd pop along and have a look, with no idea of what was going to be there.

Wow did I get a surprise, never thought there would be 1000cc bikes there. Boy, were they motoring.

Great fun but could have done with some rain! :)

Don't think #1 is not sharp but hey each to their own.

#2 Bike #26 is in focus, the idea being I was trying to get some idea of speed with the others being blurred.

I feel your comment about the posts is a tad harsh, I'm not press and we were kept about 20 metres away from the track by 'fencing'.

To get a shot without fencing incuded was very dificult.

Very tempted to go to one of these events tomorrow. Collier Street Race Track. Do you know of a website that lists the dates and times of events? Been searching and can't find one! Saw a poster today as I was driving past.... Just trying to make sure it is tomorrow and not earlier today.

Thanks

I'm not as think as you confused I am..

Sorry no, I don't know of a website to help you. I came across it because a mate of mine posted the meet on Facebook.

It is well worth going if you can find a meet. They only race about 4 laps but heck do they motor, must be 70 mph give or take. The races follow each other quite quickly too, just a minute or so between each one.

As a newbie I found it quite challenging trying to pan with the posts in the way and the speed they were doing.

The dirt flying around was also another factor.

Search about and find a meet, I'm sure you'll have great fun.

I dont have a single problem with the two posts in the shot, those might be what saves the shooters life if one (or more) of the bikes loses traction/grip.

Joe if you dont have a problem with two posts thats fine, but i still think they are wrong and would spoil any shot. I may be wrong but i have never seen a pic in the media like that.

If you look at post #4 you'll see that I am not press, just a hobbyist.

The only people who could get the other side of the fencing were acredited photographers.

These shots are not for the media they are for me and here, so experienced photographers can give me constructive

Now, until I am good enough to get a press pass you'll just have to put up with the odd post or two, sorry about that!

Thanks Joe, for your comment. It is a dangerous sport and a sidecar team had a fatal accident the week before this meet. The passenger (sidecar) was thrown out and tragically she died, the rider, the last I heard was in a critical situation.

IMO if your happy with shots like that then you will never be good enough to get a press pass, by me saying about the posts i was trying to be constructive, we have all had to start where you are but you have to find a way to work round it (it can be done) if you cant take comments like that then maybe dont post your pics on here.

I'm sorry but that was not a constructive critical comment, it was simply criticism.

Can you show me some of your photos please? I've searched the forum but can't find any.

FWIW, #1 isn't sharp, it's either camera shake or just not in focus or maybe it was cropped from a much larger photo, I don't know. Saying that something isn't sharp is a constructive criticism. You might not like it, but it's letting you know that it's not sharp and that something needs to be done differently next time, so that it is sharp. The point about the posts is also constructive. Whether you are a professional or not, if you want to get better, these are the lumps you take. As for showing you some of MY photos, any of the three places in my sig will do that for you.
