Very Nice shots, funny to think your Christmas is nearly over.Bit of a coincidence as I was alerted to a Shieldbug in the bath just an hour ago (relatives have their uses):

what to give the Shieldbug that has everything - evidently not red grapes which it walked around:

Sorry meant LordV in UK. You also an early riser most days - me, I live a 10min cycle ride from where I work so tend to be a late riser c.8am. :) Couple of guys from work have gone back to NZ for xmas, wish I could have joined them looks beautiful and its summer - bug hunting amongst the ferns - beats squabbling with relatives!

p.s your bug might be a Potato Capsid - Calocoris norvegicus. Anyway certainly a member of the order True Bugs:

Looks like a Christmas pudding shield bug :)
Excellent shots.
I normally get up at 6am- still get excited and wake up even earlier on Christmas day. The kids put a curfew on me- not allowed to wake anyone up till 7am. Still a kid at heart and hope to stay that way :)
