I've read the threads and thinking of these two. What are some thoughts, or, better for less lenses. Advice is what I'm seeking. I currently own the 350D. I mostly do nature, astro with a little portrait. "Whatever you can do to avoid Photoshop is worth it"

Thanks for the replies. I checked out the 17-40mm f/4L and what a nice lens. Price: 644.85! I think that will bust my budget. "Whatever you can do to avoid Photoshop is worth it"

The 70-200 is very sharp, you love it. The 50 f/1.4 you must take some practice until you domain the narrow DOF. They were my first two lens after the kit lens, too!! Cheers

I understand the crop on the 350D is 1.6 so that would make it a 27mm?Yes, you are correct. You'd have about a 27-28mm lens at the wide end of the lens. It would be a good walk around lens. Many people love this lens. It's one of the best wide angles out there. Go UCLA

Canon 70-200/4.0 EF-L USM Zoom Lens - Price After Rebate: $564.85 Canon 50/1.4 EF USM Lens - Price After Rebate: $289.00 I have both of these, and they are excellent. The 70-200 f/4L is compact and light, with optics as good as the more expensive f/2.8L. As long as you don't need the speed (I don't myself), then you'll really enjoy this lens. Bob
