I did some unique photography, this summer, of Wood Buffalo National Park - one of the largest National Parks in the world and part of the southern northwest territories/northern alberta. Seeing it from a helicopter was something else, I can't describe the breathtaking experience it was.

Most memorable experience was when the geese flew in formation with the chopper, although thankfully far enough away. I got a few pics of it out the door of the helicopter.

I spent about 3 years covering the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories. I hope to cover every region of the Canadian North like I did this area, I hope to show this unique part of the country to the world, for everyone to appreciate and enjoy.

If anyone is interested I worked on the article for a while and all the video and photos are brand new from me.. check it out, have a read and appreciate this unique part of the country.

Thanks, for three days after my head was spinning. I can't believe I got that kind of opportunity!

Awesome stuff Karl. I have a buddy who is a chef at the lodge there. Been promising him for years I'd get up his way. Maybe this is what kicks my butt in gear.

Cheers

Definitely a must do experience, especially by air ..just unbelievable wild up there. Crazy aurora weather too in 2012-13 I hear! Go go go ! I'm doing another article for LBW in the near future cruising over a set of class IV rapids in a plane surveying birds.

Is your buddy a chef at Blachford Lake Lodge, in Yellowknife, out of curiosity?

No, he's closer to the Park - Fort Smith I think. Will send him an email and ask.
