Over the last several months I've enjoyed the company of 2 young Foxes in my backyard. I've been fortunate to watch and learn their behavior and routines and they gave me plenty of opportunities to photograph them.

A few weeks ago I noticed one had an injured leg so I contacted a local wildlife rehabilitator and she suggested I feed them so the injured one doesn't have to hunt giving it time to heal on it's own. She said if it doesn't get any better trap it and bring it in to her. She also suggested I trap the sibling because Foxes do better in rehab in the company of another Fox and she doesn't have any others in rehab.

It took about 5 days to be able to trap both of them using a dog crate with a long rope to close the door once one entered the crate but I managed to catch the second one last night and it will be going to her facility this morning.

Beautiful animals to say the least and I'm glad the injured one will be getting some help now.

The rehabilitators plan is to release both Foxes back onto my property once the injured one heals.

Awesome story and great captures! :D I love the foxes on my property, except when they chase my cats. ;)

I mainly photograph birds so not having cats in my yard is a blessing...plus, the Foxes keep the rodent population in check.

My cats keep the rodent population in check while saving on the food bills. :D I'm a birder also... I just walk farther back on my property crossing that invisible cat territorial line. My cats don't wander very far... they usually eat bunnies, mice and voles. I have 2 fox dens within a 1/2 mile. I usually see my foxes snacking on my wild raspberries and apples. They sure are beautiful animals!

I have enjoyed following your 'foxy' story, and I am glad to see the injured one will have company while recuperating. Great story, and a super job on your part.

Also, beautiful images too!

just a few of my thoughts...
Pierre

Thank you everyone.

There seems to be some confusion if these are young Foxes or adults. The rehabilitator told me the size, eyes and bushy tails tells her they are adults. I guess once the vet sees the injured one I'll know for certain. I know the first one I photographed back in July was a young one and maybe these are the parents and the young one moved on.
