Thanks!

He got it from Guitar Center for $1,200 out the door. That includes tax and extended warrantee. They have them for $1,064 or something like that. His dad was with him.

Best gifts? My son got a cool robot ... he doesn't look that excited in this image but he (and I) really like this item. My daughter got a drum set ... now she needs lessons (she plays snare in the school band, but has never played a set).

How about a kid at heart? The Matriarch of the family decided to shop in Whoville for this fashion statement.

Awesome on the drumset! Always love seeing another girl join in the fun. I play the drums too (external link). There are alot of nice playalong drum books (external link) and try out Vic Firth's site for some lessons (external link). Also Tiger Bill (external link) has some great stuff too.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions, Pamela! Her mother is not quite as excited about her drumming interest as I am, but she's going along with things. I think she's the only female drummer in the school band ... but proud Dad (see the "Daddy's Girl" shirt she's wearing?) must point out that she's "1st chair". Thanks again for the references - I'll be checking them out.

Very nice drum set you have there, and I love the Will Farrell cowbell reference ... you can never have too much cowbell :) .

Joe -gets my vote as the best set so far. Frames help, but the diffuser works well. Which type?
