I have made fun of people in the past for making a big deal of little things like this so feel free to do the same.

I just got a 5d markII and I do not know if I can handle the shutter release noise. I am used to a cute click click sound of my 50D. The massive Ker Klunk of the 5D makes me go wtf every time I use it in a quiet room. Granted I just got it late last night but really..

Thanks for reading.

I love that sound. That along with the shutter slap of the old Hasselblads.

Agreed, it's nothing compared to a MF mirror slapping about.

It's a great camera, enjoy it.

Shoot more with it, you will soon forget about the sound...

You should return it and get a Rebel. Or better yet a P&S that does a cute little "shutter sound".

Amen...I used to love the sound of my 1D Mark III...the 5D2 is much less satisfying (especially on burst mode)...but the shutter sound is roughly Deciding Factor #1,873 for me. For all I care, the 5D2 could emit a gigantic belch every time I press the shutter button and I'd still love the camera.

You guys are weird. I'd be happy if it didn't make any noise at all and I am certainly not begging for a more "manly" loud mirror slap.

Weird..well, i wouldn't say that.. exactly.
Which do you prefer.. the bark of a German Shepherd/big dog, or a Poodle/small dog? :p

If not weird . . . how about richly eccentric?

It's a serious problem when shooting around horses or in a wedding ceremony. Canon built some darned quiet cameras in the past (example... the "full frame" Elan 7/EOS 30). They need to pay more attention to it now.

Personally, I hate shutter noise. I don't want a shutter that makes a noise that is "impressve" or "satisfying". I just want a shutter that won't spook nervous wildlife. Which means the closer to silent, the better.

The gear and how it makes you feel is meaningless, or at least it should be meaningless. The images created by the gear are everything.

If a quieter shutter helps someone get better images in certain situations, a quieter shutter is therefore superior to a "satisfying cla-clunk".

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
