I have a 60D and want to go fullframe

my choices are a 5d and 5dii

the 5d is about $1000 cheaper, buying used over a refurb 5dii

what will i be giving up by getting a 5dc and not the 5dii?

the 5d2 has sensor cleaning which is invaluable. It also shoots hd video and has more megapixels. The 5dc just feels ancient.

AF is the same.
IQ and ISO performance are moderately better.

People are finding 5diii's in the $2800 range now a days. Just saying... :)

If you can easily afford the 5dii get it because it's awesome. If its a stretch, the 5dc is awesome too. The LCD on the classic sucks a lot, the menus feel ancient, and sometimes it's nice to go up to 6400 iso, but the iq on the classic is still great.

Am I the only one that does get the "menu" criticism that the 5Dc gets all the time?

Who uses their "menus" past the first few hours of getting their camera? When I get a new camera, I set up whatever custom functions I want, and then only use the menu to change from jpg to raw, or format my cards. What else exactly is there on the menus of a camera that is so important?

Seriously asking here.

Same here. I also use it for custom white balance, not much else.

I still think that the OP hasn't experienced dust bunnies on their sensor with the 5d mk 1... It's a huge factor when shooting with a camera that doesn't have auto sensor cleaning. This was implemented in all of canon's cameras after the 5d mark I.

as to the other posters, you guys probably haven't tried magic lantern to really appreciate the menu system.

Well, I have magic lantern on my T2i. To tell the truth if I only take pictures, there is no need for magic lantern.

Since your 10-22mm lens won't fit on the ef lens mount (used by the FF bodies) and you haven't got a huge amount invested in Canon lenses, I'd also consider the new Nikon D600 or the inevitable Canon body that matches that.

If you can wait 5dc and 5dm2 prices will drop even more

If you're going to shoot high iso, get the MKII.

thanks for the replies. the 5D is about a $1000 cheaper right now than a 5d2, thatwill allow me to essentially trade my 60D for the 5D and a sell off the 10-22 for a 17-40L and be set with the other lenses. if i get the 5d2 i need to sell off the 60D, Tammy 28-75 and the 10-22 to break even. so now extra cash for the 17-40L.

Don't you find live view useful for wide shots? That's why I got the 10-22 instead of the 17-40.

If what you're after is IQ, you won't notice the 5D being much of an upgrade from the 60D in ISO noise and sharpness, you'd have to get to the 5d Mark ii to notice an improvement. The 18 megapixel APS-C sensor performs as well as the 5Dc's sensor in most conditions, often better. The 60D has much lower high ISO noise in spite of being a crop, though the 5Dc has a bit more sharpness.
Full frame does not automatically mean better IQ, the 5Dc is a pretty old camera with a pretty old sensor. If what you're after is full frame DOF though, go for it.
