I got a Sigma 2.8/24-70 from a aBay seller. Good price, promp posting, arrived on dec 23rd just as I got home. But the zooming ring does not feel as it should, it is very tight and uneven. I'll probably send it back (not cheap).

Disappoinment. Other than the stiffness the lens is just right.
Anybody has a similar experience?

(makes me want to swap it for the EF instead but three times the price is difficult to justify)

I use EX lenses only from Sigma. These work well.

I've had one for a while. It should loosen up with use.

Great lens, and for many $$$ less than the Canon equiv.

Mine is brand new as of a few days ago. It's stiffer than my kit lens, but I don't really see it as "too stiff".

nice car. But you need to get some KYB or similar adjustable shocks to get rid of that wheel gap. lol ('05 President- Indy Miata Club)

Don´t worry. It´s normal to be stiff the zoom ring in this lens, I got mine from Sigma4Less brand new and it´s also a little stiff, with the use it´s getting smoother. I checked another lens here locally, same thing.

Cheers

I have the same lens & focoussing ring was stiff in beginning but it frees up very quickly on use. Dont sweat over it, its known fact with sigma lens & is totally harmless.

I have had mine for 6 months now and I like it a lot. The zoom ring was a little stiff when I first got it, but it is just fine now.

Brand new 24-70 Sigmas are tight. Will loosen up quickly.

I had mine for 6 month now. And it's so loose that if you point the lens down, the zoom ring will turn by itself from 70 - 24mm.

My 24-70mm was very stiff when new. Within a few weeks, it loosened up. It is not nearly as easy and smooth as my 70-200mm F4L but it is not bad.
