The last few days I took some pics of my just born daughter.

In some of the pictures I saw a horizontal line (in portrait mode) or a vertical line (in landscape mode) in the middle of the image.

It looks like it is in the camera, because every pic has it on the same place.

Can somebody tell me what's the problem?

I just discovered the line is also visible in the lcd screen!

I shoot a lot in Auto mode, and in Portrait program.

Thanks

I looked at the images and I can't see the line, either.

Check this picture (liz3) the line is here more visible.

Just under her lips.

Ok, now I see it.
It doesn't look good.
Does it happen when you shoot RAW?
Have you tried various sizes of JPEG?
Answering these questions won't solve the problem, only narrow it down.

What kind of camera? Lens? Does it happen with different lenses? Maybe try shooting a blue sky or dark wall (since the line appears to be white) to see if that bring it out. My best guess at this point is that you have a sensor problem (particularly if it is showing up on the LCD as wall as computer. I'd be calling Canon myself. Is this a new camera or new problem?

My camera is a Powershot G3 and I have had it for 3 years now.

I took about 4500 pics with it.

I don't have different lenses, the pics were shot in Auto mode and in Portrait mode.

The line does not appear everytime, even if I use the same settings.

Hmm, I'm not anywhere an expert on G3, maybe someone else is. I'd call or email Canon and see what they say. It may or may not be a "known" problem.

It can't be an optical problem you could not get beautifuly straight thin line like that.
Must be something to do with the sensor or processing.
Sounds like a problem for canon to sort for you.
I have used a G3 for a couple of years and see nothing like it .
I would email no 3 pic to canon for their opinion.
