Help me choose! Helicopter picking up water

I like the angle of the helicopter, its position in the frame, and its separation from the waterline in the last one you posted.

What made you choose to do this in B&W? I too like the last one, along with your crop, but I'm longing for the color of the trees and water.

#2 for me. the hose is in the water and the front of the copter is not getting washed out from the water

when I shot this, I imagined it being in black and white. I'm not fond of the color version, the colors don't pop and the mist and smoke really gave it a dull effect. The black and white makes that mist pop which I love. Here is a color version for you to see, but I don't think I'd use it, seems to make it less powerful

I liked the B/W version, but when I saw the color version that became my favorite. I like the color on the blades, and the light on the front of the helicopter is more pronounced. The colors give the scene a sense of urgency. FWIW. -rick

I think they're great images. I like your crop, but really like #2 also. It shows the vastness and immensity of the forest behind the helicopter. The mist swirl on the right waterbank looks really cool.

I love the B&W versions, but I also like the color version. If you shot this in RAW, decrease highlights and increase shadows to bring out some detail in the darker areas of the trees behind the helicopter. Also, increase the hues and saturation in the greens to make the trees pop a little more. You may have to increase contrast afterwards to help the mist.

I think the color version could also be very dramatic if you spend some time processing.

Im curious to see the last one in color... But it's definitely my favorite of them all (even over the color).

How about #1 in color?

I like #1 or #4 in the original post, then I liked the cropped version better, then the color version really stuck out for me. I can see the vision you were going after with the B&W, but the color version looks more "in the moment" versus the "newspaper" look of the B&W version.

I like the first image.

#1 works the best....but color would really help it. Biggest advantage to the first shot....it hides the frozen rotors....#4 looks like it is about to crash.

Yeah... Thanks for posting the color, it works, and would work for all of them I think. The colors of the rotors and the bird overall add to the image, rather than detract from it. Processing will do wonders to bring out the other colors/areas, and help make the mist pop.
