Pixma iP8500 + PSE 3 + Colour Management

I'm getting really confused. I use the above + Canon Glossy Paper

Everything has a slight red cast on the print.

I used adobe gamma on my PCT to set the colour their.

I can't see how to turn off the printer colour (as suggested by some). I tried ticking the ICM box in manual color adjustment of the printer - no benefit

Don't fully understand colour management in PSE 3 - the image sppace refers to sRGB IEC6 1966-2.1; the print space to BJ colour printer profile 2000 which I think is correct for the above paper - no significant difference

Finally tried Adobe RGB - this seems much better - is this right thing to do

i have the same printer....i am using adobe RGB profile in PS and using SP1 for the glossy paper in print preview. I also chose none in color management in the printer driver settings..

Excuse my stupidity but how/where did you find colour management let alone tick none? All I can find is color adjustment & then in that box there is nothing to suggest I can turn it off.

Out of curiosity did you try any other combinations & if so (& if you got the time which ones) and why did you plump for Adobe RGB + SP1 in the end

In Photoshop when u hit print preview you get a box that says print space and i choose SP1 to match the glossy paper and when i hit print the print driver box opens and i choose preferences and under color adjustment i choose manual then i choose none and also make sure under effects all are unchecked.

I'm having the same problems with my new 8500. With my old epson and printing within PSE3 I had very specific descriptions on Epson paper within the color space dialog box. With the Canon I just get color space settings such as sp1, pr1, etc. How do I match those numbers with the type of Canon paper I'm using?

The color profiles listed below are for printing images that are saved in Adobe RGB color space:

MP2 is for Matte Finish with a custom quality setting of 2.

PR1 is for Photo Paper Pro with custom quality of 1.

PR2 is for Photo Paper Pro with a custom quality setting of 2.

SP1 is for Photo Paper Plus media Glossy with custom quality of 1.

SP2 is for Photo Paper Plus Glossy media with a custom Quality setting of 2.

I too want to send my thanks. By using the correct icc profiles (have to admit that Canon's ARE a little cryptic) and making sure that all color correction is turned off in the print driver, I am getting the best color matched prints that I've ever had, and this is only using adobe gamma for color management.
