T4i video creating multiple files.

Well I did my surgery filming gig. It went well... used a 100mm macro lens.

Everything really did go well, except that I notice the resulting video files have seemingly random lengths... not necessarily matching my actual take.

It's possible that the camera just kept making new files on it's own, but the lengths don't seem to have any logic to them. (11.09min, 12.50min, etc)

Only once did I get the warning that it was stopping because of the file size limit.

I'll get home shortly and see it they butt up properly... but it's still weird.

It's probably splicing the files as it films to keep the file size down on each one. Otherwise if it was one long file, it would be massive in GB and taxing on your computer to take in, and then to work with later in an editing program.

I've loaded them all up and they seem to be continuous so far. Still, it seems random. I would like to understand the scheme here.

I believe it's because there is a 4gig file size limit. The time will vary due to compression and what your filming.

I was aware of that limitation, but I see some files here that don't follow that logic. It's possible I started new files without remembering tho.
