I finally got to attend a real air show plus have my R/C event gear on hand. This is my first attempt at full scale & the weather was all over the place, & we got good & wet for a bit. I spent today learning the lay of the land, style of flying & experimented with shutter speeds. I'm going back tomorrow because the forecast is for a much nicer day. These few shots are highlights from the jpg's with very simple exposure corrections & cropping. I have the CR2's from today but if tomorrow has the lighting they are predicting I won't have to do as much work to make my event album, but if not I'll be spending a lot of time playing in ACR over the next week or 2.
Please note that the first shot has sentimental value because from all I've been able to learn about this Lanc I am almost sure it's one from my childhood & my late father would have flown in as the flight engineer when it was in service.

Thanks everyone. Frank I've downloaded & backed up my files from today (40 gigs), recharged my batteries, and re formatted all the cards. Now I'll re pack the gear & set the alarm. I must say it's about the most efficiently run event I've ever attended. I made the mistake of buying today's ticket on line which seemed like a great idea but in actual fact you can pay at the parking lot, the shuttle bus stop (free shuttles in both directions) & while lined up waiting for the gate to open. Pre paid people were supposed to take their printed ticked to be scanned, get a stamp & then line up.
Stephan, are you going or have you already been? I hope the lens you bought from me has proven satisfactory.

Here's a few from today, and as you can see the sky was nearly perfect. IF anyone else attended and want's to add to THIS thread please do. It's not a contest but something to help promote what the event is all about. Static photos are every bit as desirable as flying photos. I was extremely impressed by the event organizers, volunteer staff & their enthusiasm & the co operation of the Gatineau Police department & their public transportation people. GREAT JOB all of you.

The Lanc was grounded by what I think was a starter related problem (I'm a mechanic). The # 4 engine couldn't be cranked over. It would turn over from the prop but nothing from the cockpit could make it crank over.

Yesterday's rains made it unsafe for the wing walker to put her show on but it was very well received today.

And so did our CF 18 flown by the RCAF's demonstration team, and even with the great weather it found a bit of humidity to cause that vapor to condense in low pressure regions.

. . . some good ones Larry, the planes are bigger and don't move as fast, just a little different than RC coverage ?? Sundays show was spectacular and the wx was picture perfect !!

I found most of it easier than R/C but since I wasn't sure about shutter speeds I may have shot at a bit lower than needed. Panning was easier thanks to both the slower speeds (of my arm swing) & extra distance vs being on the flight line at the R/C events. Sunday's weather was perfect from start to finish but I would have been happy to see some puffy clouds as a background for part of the day.

I'm still going through my zillion shots to cull out the 'duffers'. I gotta learn to be a little more 'selective' but it was my first time at this show, and I was like a kid in a candy store !! LOL
Here's a couple more to add to your post.

You've added some excellent work. Looks like you were there both days. Maybe next year you can pick me up on the way there, I'm not too far from you & on the way.
