Hey all... i wanted to ask you guys on a new camera or lens purchase.

At the moment i use a 1D Mark IV with:

Canon 50mm f1.8
Canon 70-300mm
Sigma 12-24mm f4
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8

Now my brother is at Thailand now and a 5D Mark II cost £1200 brand new and as i never had a full frame i always wanted a camera :)

On other hand i could go for the CANON EF 8–15MM F/4L FISHEYE USM as i never had a fish eye either.

question is i don't know what i should go for a lens or another body?

please advice :)

In my opinion, you have got one of the best camera body's but have mwahh lenses. I would look which lens you like the most on your current kit and switch to a Canon L lens. A 70-200L from Canon does have much better IQ. More contrast better colors and probably sharper than your Sigma 70-200.

Maybe you could sell your 1DIV for a 5DII or 5DIII if you want to go FF and use your cash for some nice lenses.

I have been borrowing a 1d4 for the last week or so from CPS and I'm happier with the overall IQ from my 5d2 and 5d3. And the 5d3 to me has a better performing AF, even in crappy light. Right now you could probably trade the 1d4 for a new 5d3 and maybe get some cash out of the deal... Then have fun with whatever lenses you add to it :)

Without question in your position I'd be sorting out the glassware. You've got a real muddle of lenses.

I'd be looking for more/better glass if I had a 1DmkIV also.

If you are happy with your current lenses IQ, you don't need to change them for L.. Also i think that wasn't your original question... I really don't understand why always when somebody ask a question like this, and if he doesn't use L lenses always the answers are, change your current lenses..

OP wasn't asking if his lenses are so so or not..

So your question was a 5d2 or 8-15 I would say, why not think about what you want more? If you have always wanted a FF and go with the 8-15, the initial WANT will be there.. So, why not get that FF so you can try all the lenses on a FF also. And maybe later add the 8-15 ?

As the owner of the Fisheye, I have to say that it is a very specialty lens....
Yes it is great, but I don't use it a heck of a lot...

Just my 2 Cents
