I only asked this as it does not seem to effect my Bowens ie. when you have it on and 1/2 press the shutter it does not trigger the Bowens [which is good for me using both camera and flash in manual mode. I use the onboard 7D flash to trigger the Bowens 2x 500R's optically].
I only asked as if I put the Bowens in self learning mode ( where it technically can count the number of preflashes and correspondingly ignore them thus firing on the last fire command) it sees this as a flash.
Eg if you set up wireless flash with red eye reduction it counts 5 flashes, if you turn off the red eye reduction it sees 4 flashes.
Don't worry I long since given up trying to mix speedlights wirelessly and monolights - it can't be done.
I was just wondering if the red eye reduction [when and only when one actually presses the shutter completely] could trigger the flash ever so slightly prematurely.
NB I don't have any evidence of this happening just intrigued that the self learning mode can pick it up everytime as a preflash but somehow does seem to trigger the Bowens optical slaves - just wierd?
Any views?
