What happens when an egg gets impacted by a .22 bullet?
It kind of explodes! ;)
Enjoy!

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Thanks! :)
Probably somewhere around 6 seconds for most of them; these were shot in the dark, using a 580 EXII on 1/128 power (mechanical shutters would be too slow); we used a sound trigger to hear the gun, and by the time the flash triggered, the bullet was there. The darkness enabled us to use BULB; nothing exposes until the flash fires.

Nice. Interested in the timing aspects. Did you fine tune the timing using the microphone to source distance or other methods?

Eggcelent!!

Nice work

Thanks everyone!
J Michael: dad built a device that will trigger using a microphone, so once we set it up, all we had to do was work on our timing; the bullet wasn't making it to the target before the flash triggered.first, we tried toning the sensitivity down, but that didn't make that much of a difference. We had a trash bag on the table so the egg wouldn't ruin anything, so we placed the microphone under it, to try to muffle the sound a bit. We eventually put the microphone in a glove under the bag, with the pedestal to hold the egg on top of that.
