This was my first crack at this sport and I enjoyed it. It was the first regatta of the fall season and was open to both club and varsity teams, high school to college. I tell 'ya, that University of Wisconsin varsity 8 was fast!
Good crowd on hand, both team supporters and general public.
It was a tight, 3 mile course winding through downtown.
I shot this looking down from one of the bridges. As the traffic goes over, the deck bounces up and down a good 3 inches! Makes life hard when shooting with the Rokinon 650 - 1300 manual focus lens!
This part of the river had concrete piers sticking out where I could get fairly close to the boats. Here's a crop taken with a 135L.
More crops from the 135L. 200mm would have been perfect.
I was there about 5 hours, shot a good 1k pix (lots of bursts), and walked away with about 150 keepers. I'll get the gallery link up later this evening.
Edit: Here's the local (big) newspaper's gallery. Who's do you like better? http://www.jsonline.com …6.html?ipad=y#id_87692286
