I don't understand how in any way this is a better camera than the 5D2 :) maybe the burst rate, but that's about it.

I am still convinced that the next camera I buy after my 5Dc dies is the D700

It's not intended to be a better camera than the 5D, which is why it's a 6D, not a 3D. In Canon nomenclature, the lower number is the better camera.

I dont understand this mentality. Most of the people who will be buying a Full Frame camera, or any $2000+ camera, will not be first timers. Most will already have lenses. Most will not want to go through the hassle of selling all their lenses.

DPReview made a good point about that too, Most of those folks are coming from APS-C and may already have say, the 15-85 or the 10-22 or the 17-55 IS in their lineup, which is useless on the 6D, Some folks may NOT have -huge- collections of lenses...

Heck I have quite a few and Im considering dumping ship..

Still, Might wait till i see a sample or two before i commit to that...

+1 Dpreview's final commentary was very good

Hard to see why anyone is not tempted to go D600 instead

Once again Canon gives its customers and itself a slap in the face

-They have the gall to give us YET again that ancient AF???

It's Canons most capable autofocus system in light sensitivity. It might only have 11 points, but then the D600 isn't a whole lot better with only having cross type points in the centre.

-And then they price it at the same price as the D600, even with lower pixel count???

Who cares? Pixel count means nothing, cameras these days are generally more limited by lens sharpness than sensor megapixels.
I don't see how the D600 has a clear advantage over the 6D, they seem very competitive with each other to me.

One thing I Really envy from Nikon D600 is the pop up flash/commander
I use my Pop up flash commander A LOT, and plain and simple to have a flash in an emergency is great
Sigh

In all honesty I think this is the perfect match for a 60D user also.

Except for the fact that the screen is completely different, and the poor dude switching from a 60D will keep trying to pry open the 6D's screen. Oh, and none of the EF-S lenses the dude owns will work on the 60D.

Other than that, it's very well thought out....

I'd pick Canon's words over Canon Rumors' :).

I have a question, the comparison table here
http://www.dpreview.com …&products=canon_eos5dmkii (external link)
Says 1/4000 of a sec but
Canonrumors official list here
http://www.canonrumors.com …on-eos-6d-official-specs/ (external link)
Says 1/8000 of a sec
Plus the firs says No touch screen but the 6D does have touch screen
, so someone is missing the mark somewhere

Nikon/Fuji.

It was almost depressing to read in a way..

Heck, I think i could sell my stuff and pick up a D600, 4 lenses(Sigma 12-24, Nikon 50mm f/1.8G, Nikon 105mm f/2.8 VR and Nikon 70-300 VR) and pocket some cash... Or get another lens, Or a flash, OR something.. As I stated, Nikon finally had a body wherein it makes -sense- for me to switch, Before I was either switching and gaining nothing immediately in terms of capability or I was switching, gaining an awesome camera, and having all of one lens to use on it! I look at the complete package and honestly, a D800 is not worth going back to having a single lens to shoot with! :(

-edit- Also for me, as a large macro shooter, the Nikon flash twinlight is SUBSTANTIALLY less expensive and in my opinion FAR cooler than Canon's MT-24EX...

Another option is get the tried and true 5DII...

Or I simply start sacking the cash away for the 5DIII...

The 6D is Canon's only full frame with a built in flash.

The 6D does not have a built in flash.

Looks like a slightly souped up 5D2 at a much cheaper price point than the 5D3.

I'm going to have to assume that the IQ will be better than the 5D2. The AF arrangement isn't a departure from the 5D2 at all. 1 crosstype AF point. Everything else also seems to be on the level with the 5D2. I suppose at this point, there is ZERO reason to buy a 5D2 even used.

I guess the phrase "You get what you paid for" remains true. :)

I know alot of 60D / rebel users that don't even own any EF-S lenses... just depends on who you are so not a valid argument.

Wrong, 6D lacks a built in flash

look at the pentaprism, No built in flash here, Thus no flash commander...

5D2 has a better shutter, going to 1/8000 instead of 1/4000... Also the viewfinder is slightly SLIGHTLY larger..and the ergonomics are possibly better or at least more familiar depending on what you're coming from

And you can get a good 5D2 for around $1400, new ones are $1900 and i expect them to drop down to $1600-1700 FAST because of the 6D

the IQ remains to be seen, But depending on your needs the 5D2 could be a better choice...
