Hmm. 'Way back when the 5D was first announced, the senior Canon Europe official stated publically that Canon's long-term goal was to have a full range of 24x36mm cameras. I suspect they're still marching toward that goal.

Same fellow who said they could not put a more advanced AF module in the 5DII due to space being limited? Then came up with a 50D, 7D and 5DIII?

The only images available are ISo100. Oh good  that means they are still running noise reduction on the others....

out of 54,000 photos I've taken only 28 are at above 1/4000.

I think I'd just have to stop down if I ran into that issue.

Nd filter.

Well the one of the little girl looks like it has some rather ugly chroma noise in the lower and upper left corners, and thats only at ISO 400, so it might really need that noise reduction...

Primes wide open outdoors during the day.

Agreed. If you never shoot at f1.2 outdoors you might never shoot 1/8000, but I like to shoot wide open.

His comment.

Yes, that would work too.

By the time I do that for a couple of my primes, I think I'm pretty close to the cost of a 5D MkIII.

Luckily, my current camera goes to 1/8000.

There are always tradeoffs. Some are more important than otheres. What is silly is to presume that the factors that are important to you are the same for everyone else.

release date in december? Can we expect full review before that?

Also, to the people taking about switching to Nikon, the reason why most pro have a Canon body is because Canon produce a higher numbers of excellent pro lenses at lower price than Nikon.

Nikon might have a better body in 2012 but what decide the IQ of your pics is the lens you put in front of it.

Just saw the press release for this camera here in Norway, and it will have a retail price of $2995.

Too bad.

At f1.8, I was ok with 1/4000 even in bright sunlight. However I guess f1.2 and f1.4 might not.

Sure. So add an extra piece of glass to assist in degrading the image and increase chances of flare just so you can have the benefit of a few extra megapickels? I could equally say just upscale your images if you need more megapixels. There are always tradeoffs. Some are more important than otheres. What is silly is to presume that the factors that are important to you are the same for everyone else.

Not important to me at all since I don't think I ever shot over 1/4000sec nor do I want more pickles than I have. You said yourself it is a tradeoff, cheap camera, ND filters. Sorted. Don't want to degrade IQ, buy a more expensive camera. Sorted.
Once again Canon are limiting our choices by crippling certain features. Want decent AF module, 5DIII, want GPS, 6D, want both....save up.

Canon lenses are not better than Nikon lenses (the legendary 14-24 kinds of proves the point), but there is a bigger choice covering some focal lengths especially primes. Price wise, Canon are playing catchup now and new lenses are more pricey than Nikon.
Could easily say, no good have a great lens if your picture is full of noise and banding and blown whites...

Quoted from dpreview " To distinguish it from the more expensive 5D Mark III, the 6D features a simpler, 11-point AF system with a single cross-type focus sensor"

WTF Canon!! Seriously!?!?!?

vmadvmadvmadvmadvmad

I was surprised when 5dmk3 came with its fancy AF module. Guess they probably fired the guy who made that decision and got the previous guy back in charge.:)
