Canon would have had to be developing this camera many months ago. Both brands have identified a category: entry level FF. And both now have a product in the category, each with a differentiated feature set attractive to a slightly different customer segment. Both will sell like hot-cakes. Rubbish. Seems competitive to me, slightly lower FPS but shoots higher ISO. Comparable AF abilities considering the -3 EV low light verses the D600's -1 EV. And the D600's 9 cross type AF points, are all in the centre so that's not really much more useful than the single centre AF cross type point for spot autofocus. Not to mention built-in wifi and gps. Just because kin2son and others do not find this feature appealing doesn't mean the rest of world won't either. There are trade-offs with each camera, more mega-pixels does not a better photographer make. If you never shoot at f1.2 outdoors you might never shoot 1/8000, but I like to shoot wide open. 1/8000 is really more suited for stop action special effects then for normal shooting. I haven't had a need for it myself. Mark

Differentiated feature? You mean the novelty cr@p such as wireless and GPS that makes no improvement to the actual picture output? Yea sure you got that right. I guess fanboy is blind and will bend over for whatever Canon releases... To me posts like this, shows how wildly successful the 6d will be in spite of your prognostications. Have owned my T2i for a couple of years now and want to go FF for DOF and the better performance in low light that the 6D/5D3 claim to offer. I'll be very interested to see how the sensor in the 6D compares to the 5D3. Canon EOS 6D | 35L | 85L II | 135L | 70-200L f4 IS | 430EX II

Again, nothing to do with liking or disliking the camera, but it is just a fact that companies take months or even years to develop products, I think both companies knew each other were working on this type of product, it was only sensible, and this was a logical time for both of them to announce them. I think if Canon had known the direct specs of the D600 while they were developing they would have used the 7D's AF system to make the camera a better comparison to the D600. Mr. the Kid.

Not saying they aren't useful, but Canon only bundling these cr@p because they know they can't compete with the Sony sensor, you know the thing that actually matters when you spend $2k body only. Yet they have to come up with something to justify the cost to distract 'consumer' like you! 5D3 Gripped / 17-40L / Σ35 / 40 Pancake / Zeiss 50 MP / Σ85 / 100L Macro / 70-200 f2.8L II IS / 430 EX II / 580 EX II / Canon 2xIII TC / Kenko Ext.
