Based on some comparison pictures taken from both 6D and D600, looks like D600 is more attractive. I still can't find any reason to upgrade my 5DMkII yet.

Cameras: Canon EOS M, FujiFilm X-T1| Lenses: FD 50mm 1.4, Fujinon 23mm 1.4, Fujinon 56 1.2, Zeiss 32mm 1.8

Enjoying all the diesecting...

If this is all thats going to be announced, I am somewhat disappointed.
Personally was looking for something to fit between the 5DIII and 1Dx in FF and a upgrade to the present 7D

Hopefully that Fat Lady hasn't finished singing yet.

Ok,,, now back to diesecting...

Interchangeable focussing screens - now that's quite something.

Well, you can also do that on the xxD series of cameras. So, if they left that out, it would have been really disappointing.

The D600 sensor does look very good from the samples I've seen. Even without downsampling, it looks to have around the same noise performance as my D700. And, of course, none of that signature Canon banding.

Having gone through about 2000 photos from a recent wedding, many of which were taken with a 5D3, I can definitely conclude that even the 5D3 has quite a bit of banding at ISO 12800.

It has already been announced. Unless Canon pulls it from shelves and redesigns a new one in the next few months, this is what we're getting.

Yeah, definitely targeted towards APS-C users. Specs are really close to 5DII, probably not worth the cost of upgrade for most people who currently have a 5DII.

the 17-50 IS an EF-S lens. not made by Canon, but Tamron specifically made it for crop bodies.

a $400 17-50 that performs as well as the Tamron does on a FF body would be awesome.

Yeah this really sucks. I use it as my main lens on my T2i. Now I don't know what to do.

17-50mm on your T2i would be equivalent to a 10-31mm lens on a FF camera. So, it would probably be too wide anyway unless you mainly used the wide end. You'd really want something like a 24-70 to be the rough equivalent on FF.

Oh crap! are you sure about that??

That is a deal breaker for me. I can't swing another $1,200 for a new lens as well.
Oh well back to looking at the D7 OR 5D2

The 5D2 won't use your Tamron either. No full frame camera will, it is built for APS-C cameras: http://www.tamron.com …s/di_II_hi_speed/a16.html (external link)

The best APS-C camera is the 7D.

*edit* woops. I see others have already addressed this.

I'm in the same boat, coming from a 40D. I'm looking at the Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD ASP IF at the moment as I really don't want anything slower than f/2.8 but can't justify spending the amount of money a Canon equivalent would cost me. The Tamron is very inexpensive but gets some great reviews.

I think a big issue on this board is that people put too much merit on the specs on the cameras. I agree that AF is important in some cases, and some of the specs do need to be top notch to get certain results, but what I've found is that when people have such high expectations, they are more likely to be disappointed.

This is going to sound weird, but this trend can almost be compared to BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder). Spending enough time criticizing flaws can do more harm in certain cases.

The main questions should be: "Does it work for what I want?" and "Is it worth the money?"

You constantly see people bashing the 5D2's AF system, and every single day I see people with ridiculously amazing photos using the AF system. If someone else can achieve that quality, then you have the chance to achieve it as well.

I see the 6D as the Rebel version of the Full Frame cameras. Sure, it is 2000 bucks, but I think used it would be a good, almost better, option when deciding between a 5Dc or a 6D simply because it is a newer production.

People call cameras tools, but I would rather call it an instrument...I say this because you can have the most amazing and expensive guitar, but you can still suck. So let the results speak for themselves.

And if the D600 didn't exist, you would have an arguement. But the D600 does exist, and does have an (on paper granted) better AF system than the 6D at the same price. It is only logical to compare them.

I should hope a 6D is better than a 5Dc, you can get a 5Dc used for less than $800 now. The 6D won't be used at that price for a very long time.

It is announced, that is it. It is on Canon's website, you can pre-order it at B&H. It is what it is.

What on earth would be possibly be announced between a $3,500 6FPS FF 22MP wedding/portrait camera and a $7000 FF 18MP Sports/Nature camera that both share the same AF system? A $5000 8 FPS 20MP camera? Why?

So iv been recently reading on the D600 and all and from my understanding it seems like a decent camera, I haven't done much research on it fully yet. I currently have a T2i with stock lens.

It seems that some people are a little hesitant on the price of the D600, I have a question.

Lets say...that i was able to get a D600 with the kit lens for around $1600. Would you jump on it?
I am not a pro or anything, just like using the camera every now and then.

I don't really get it. Why does Canon release a 6D? Why don't they just release a firmware update to the 5D II and just keep up that production? They could have saved consideration amount of money from developing cost of the 6D.

What's 2 more non-cross AF point and a 0.5 faster frame rate?

So, you came to a Canon website to ask if getting $1,200 off a brand new, hasn't even hit shelves yet, Nikon camera with lens is a good deal? Smells fishy to me.

The 5DIII and 1Dx do not have interchangeable focus screens.

And the LCD overlay used in those cameras has been getting a lot of complaints from people who shoot in low light because the focus points are so difficult to see. Keeping a 'normal' viewfinder in this camera is both a cost-saving measure and an important feature for the people who plan to use that -3Ev focusing capability
