I just purchased a used 5D MKii and there is obviously something wrong with it. It seems to be fine when shooting in jpg or at least it is very faint that it isn't noticeable but in RAW it makes the images unusable

this is what I got after pp and some sharpening. It really didn't show in the developing module unless really zoomed in but elsewhere it is shown like this.

This is what I am seeing unretouched. notice the banding and color shifts.

I am reposting this here as it isn't a pp problem but a camera problem and I hope someone might be able to shed some light into it.

I think the general assessment in the other thread is correct, and I doubt you will get too many other answers here.

1) either an electronic interference thing depending on what radio triggers, etc you are using
or
2) there is a board issue where the readouts are messed up

One is easy, change your triggers, etc, the other will probably cost around $200-300. It only costs you shipping to have Canon assess the issue, they will give you an estimate and you have to decide whether you want to fix it and then pay for that repair, or just send the camera back.

So you think my triggers (yn 602) could affect this camera but not my 50D? I'll test it with a sync cord.

2-300 I can live with I guess. I am worried it would be much more then that.

Just go out and shoot anything in good lighting and see if you have the same effect. If you find that you have no issues in ordinary shooting but do in your studio setup, then it will most likely be electronic interference of some sort. If all your shots show this then I would schedule a repair order online with Canon and send them the camera. They will assess the issue and give you an estimate.

The image is gone from this post, but the guts might give you some good info.

Related posts, although these show a herringbone pattern, where yours doesn't. :(

This got me a bit curious and I downloaded your raw. This looks like a board issue, and not RF noise. This is quite ugly at 200%, which I feel is a valid viewing ratio considering you can see the effects at 100% view, especially when your sharpening value is turned way down. Here is yours at 200%, then one from my 7D at 200%.
