:(

We'll save a space for you in the thread for when you finally manage to get one!
Have you tried being extra helpful around the house?

Yes. I even tried doing the laundry and I even had one of her friends agree to tell me whenever she did something different with her hair so I could fake that I noticed something different and gave her a compliment,

but it was to no avail...

I should have enough money on my own by the end of this month, though :(

I CAN'T WAIT :(

WARNING!: Before commenting that my color correction is horrible, please keep in mind that I am colorblind, and that hasn't stopped me from trying.

Guess I'm stronger than I realize :D

Just tallied my available funds and realized I can buy one right now. I was literally headed out the door to get one, and thought ... so ... what if I just buy it tomorrow ... or, in a week ... I can wait for a bit.

Just got the 85mm 1.4 couple of days ago, and looking forward to this 35mm 1.4 too.

If you shake the lens a little up and down, do you hear something making noise?

The Sigma is an awesome lens I like it better than my 35L which I plan on selling.

Just placed the order for copy #2 of this lens. (Through Amazon again). The image quality was amazing enough that I am willing to try again, especially considering I was essentially out nothing using Amazon the first time. Hopefully the AF is consistent this go around! I WANT this lens to work! When I look at the few pictures I took with it, there is something about the rendering and quality that pops to me much like my 70-200 did the first time I shot with it.

I was disappointed with mine through Adorama even though it was supposed to have been pre-tested. Sent it to Sigma and got it back Friday. They claim they updated the AF software. Did some sample shots inside on Saturday and then from my Balcony Sunday. In most every case, the lens focused much, much better than it did before and there was very little difference between indoors and out, and distances were far better handled. A license plate on a car 30' away was just as sharp as the logo on a bag of top soil 5' from me. (I used the dot tune method of setting my MA, which is at -12 right now)

Going to be snapping more pics at lunch. I currently also have a 35mm loaner through CPS, so I am comparing both lenses side by side. The Canon also needed MA on my camera of -9 using the Dot Tune method. It seems as though the Sigma actually hits focus a bit more often than the Canon does, and when they both hit, the Sigma does actually look slightly sharper when magnified to 100% and beyond.

There are still enough missed focuses to make me wonder, but hopefully with some more testing and practice with the lenses this week, those numbers will come down.

^^Did you have to send your camera body in with your Sigma?

No, you don't send it in. I did ask them when i had a T3i about lenses and they said in that case, you would send the body so they could make sure the two were mated, but this is because there is no MA feature. In my case I just sent the lens in.

I do believe the lens is off though, as my 70-200 2.8, my 100-400L, and to my knowledge, my 24-105 do not need MA on the camera. Since others report needing no MA, I will assume that the lens is not perfect, but apparently in spec enough so that I am still getting sharp photographs most times.

This is what happened with mine. Even though it still needs +8 to be spot on, it works far better now. I think this is a good case for getting the dock, actually. If it can register individual cameras and such, then you won't need to have MFA-capable bodies.

The only thing I'm now seeing is that if I shoot a person of average height (5'5" to 6') from head-to-toe standing up, and I use the outer-most right edge AF point on my 5D3 (in portrait orientation) to focus on the face/eyes, the resultant image isn't quite in focus. I'll have to develop some other technique on landing the AF point so that I still get a sharp photo from taking the full-body shot. Otherwise, still loving the lens.

Were your inconsistency issues based on subject distance, lighting or both? Or were it just generally inconsistent?

If I aim my S35 at a rich texture brick wall, and then take 10 shots (refocusing between each shot), I'm always getting 4 - 5 missed ones. Even though I have my camera on a tripod.. Should not happen. :/

I am traveling right now, but I think I'm gonna send my lens to Sigma when I get back home.

Had mine for a week now. I still have to test it outdoors more, but so far it seems good :)
