What didn't you like about it?

Before i got the 35L i had been using the 35 f2, which is sharper than the 35L in the center and equal to the 35L from f2.8 and beyond. The 35L had a little better colors, but i can easily match them in post with the 35f2.

If I'm using the 35 to make bokeh I'll usually be up close to my subject due to the wide focal length and will usually have them close to the center of the photo anyways.

Even more impressive than either lens was the rokinon 35 1.4. Sadly I can't trust my manual focus skills at weddings.

Heres to hoping the sigma works like the rokinon with HSM!

For those of you looking for a good 35mm to pick up, you won’t have to wait long for this lens. Sigma is releasing it before the others, aiming to have it ready for market in November.

Cheers for posting that. At least it's a little more info and sounds like it might live up to expectations..

Man, I really want this lens to perform well: it is small, has AF and is excellently build. Could it be a decent AF of Canon and the IQ of Zeiss? Maybe at least this time we can have this miracle?

I had a dream last night that this lens' price was announced...at $3500. I woke up very sad.

But I can say that the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 is literally the lens of my dreams.

Maybe the fact that I'm dreaming about this lens is a sign that I'm a little too eager for this lens? haha

Glad to hear that it's a small lens. Size/IQ are probably the top two reasons I prefer primes.

I have no doubt the Sigma 35 will exceed the IQ of the 35L... I mean, how hard can it be to beat 10+ year old technology?

The BIG question will be, how will the AF perform? Accurate shot to shot or be all crazy like past Sigma lenses... That is where the 'trust' with the lens comes from, especially shooting wide open. With the 35L, you have no worries. It is very consistent and nails focus each time.

I hope the Sigma does just as well... For a lot less... $699-799 would be a great price range.

I am not sure why they said it was small.... According to the specs it's bigger than the 35L....

No way that I'd get rid of my 35L if this is in the same price range.
Yeah the 35L is that good. Some may not like the FL but it's one of canon's best lens.

I wish a price would be announced. I'm looking for a lens in this focal length and have held off on buying one till more info comes out.

QUOTED IMAGE

the sigma lens has a filer size of 67, not 77 like your picture. (says it right on the lens itself)

Yes, the filter size is 67mm, but 77mm is the overall diameter measurement at its widest point as per Sigma's own website.
