I never had an issues with the IQ of my Sigma 30, but the focus consistency was problematic at times. I thought the Sigma 30's af was acceptable until I started using the 35L, only then did I realize how much better the Canon was in that regard. Ken

Nov 07, 2012 11:34 | #411 I'm about to click the button on the Pre-Order with Adorama, but does anyone know if the USB calibration thingie is included? or will that be extra somewhere down the line? From what I'm seeing, it's something that would have to be ordered additionally in the future... early 2013... Can't remember the exact price, but I have a feeling it wasn't prohibitive. Canon 5D3 | 17-40 | 50/1.4 | 135/2

It's looking like it will be a dock system. Vixen89 wrote in post #15218322 If yer lucky you won't need the cord right? I mean how often do you need to update lens firmware? This isn't just for firmware though. It's to offer user tuning of the AF system. The software will be free, but the USB dock will be sold separately. — Neil

It's not just about the firmware update, it's the ability to manually adjust your AF parameters for a given lens without having to ship it+your camera to Sigma every time

Is this ability and equipment available for all Sigma lenses?
