Yeah, those charts mean absolutely nothing to me either... Hopefully the new Siggy will be a stellar performer. It sure looks promising.

wish I knew how to read the MTF. lol

You should, it's helpful! Especially in places like this where you want to discuss sharpness and have some kind of objective framework for it. :)

First link in my post, learn this and you too can read MTF's: http://www.luminous-landscape.com …s/understanding-mtf.shtml (external link)

My hope is that the new USB dock will be a real boon to advanced users. While I have personally had more QC "duds" from the Canon L line than Sigma, I think Sigma may really be on the right track with the USB dock. This is a logical progression of micro focus adjustments in camera.

I'm glad to see that this lens is going to be an affordable option than the Canon 35L. I can't wait for the reviews to start coming in and see how this lens performs. I was close to pulling the trigger the other day on the Canon 35L. Now I'm glad that I waited.

I am highly interested in this lens, no doubt... I am hoping after a few months it will drop $50 or $100 before I pick one up (if it reviews well). But I expect it to be superior to the 35L in all aspects except maybe AF performance... But according to the MTF's, the Sigma will be much sharper wide open all the way to the edges. I am curious on the MTF stopped down... Should be extremely sharp.

My big thing is how accurate it will focus in low light... Without that, it would be worthless. It has been too long since I owned the Sigma 30 to remember how it performed. Optically it was great, but I know the AF was hit and miss at times.

If the price drops a little more for me then I might have this lens for Christmas. Taxes are always going to be the undoing of me/my bank account.

I wonder how long before amazon gets this in stock? I most likely will order from amazon since I have amazon prime but they charge tax in CA so I might have to look else where. Unless there this a third party seller selling it and is covered by amazon. I might probably get this lens after the holidays since shipping is always hectic around those times. Plus reviews should be up by then.

What if your wife chose the first? You'd have to return it.
