They think we need badges so we know what to do with the lens? That is just stupid if you ask me.

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"

^ Agreed. It pretty much means nothing.

Interesting this is not an EX lens.

I don't use my 35L a great deal, would consider downgrading for this. Not that it isn't a brilliant lens, absolutely it is - but my Siggy 85 spends 80% of the time on my 5D3.

Interesting this is not an EX lens.

If you reread the press release, it seems like they're doing set with the EX branding and moving towards C,A,S branding. Even the new 120-300mm isn't branded EX.

Hyper keen about the 35, looks to be good, hopefully
It's a decent price too!

Like their new styling, very much similar to zeiss, which is a good thing :)

MTF looks quite interesting.
Anyway, i got the 35L yesterday, and going to use this one. I don't think this'd be way better (if better) then L, at least it has "less' glass with 67 fither thread. But it's price can be a real deal.

I'd go for Sigma 85/1.4 for my next lens.

Can anybody help me out in comparing the MTF charts of the Sigma 35 with the 35L? i have no idea how to read them, I've read up on how to before but it's still a language I don't speak.

Ahhh...thanks! I must have glimpsed over that part. Much more excited about this now. :)

Someone at Sigma must be able to read my mind. Unholy Trinity, here I come.

I'm currently pondering selling off my 35mm f/2, 28mm f/1.8 and my 50mm f/1.4 to get one...

Because I'd use a 35mm more often BTW, more practical focal length 90% of the time

[QUOTE=Tony-S;15004080]Optical Construction: 13 elements in 11 groups
Minimum aperture: F16

vs

rokinon 35mm 1.4
Optical Construction: 12 elements in 10 groups
Minimum aperture: F16

this could be the lens that defeats the 35L... If it has more elements than the rokinon 35mm, then it should outresolve the rokinon which has better corner sharpness than the 35L however it does not edge out the 35L in center sharpness

all comes down to price, sharpness, and saturation now.

If they include a usb port and software to tune AF, we won't have to worry about that!

This is really interesting. Can't wait for more info and pricing.

I don't use my 35L enough to justify keeping it for long....

However if this is similarly priced as the Siggy 85, I am not too sure...$400-$600 I'll offload my L straight away
