Congrats Shane!

I bet you felt like the Fstoppers review:

If there is one thing none of us will argue over, it is that this lens looks spectacular. Brushed aluminum, glass and rubber all blend together gorgeously. The attention to detail on this lens is downright absurd. It is painstakingly built from the mount to the front element. Simple things like the look and function of the lens cap or the feel of the focusing ring… things that we don’t even think or have put no emphasis on about have been brought to a different level. For example, the lens hood snaps on with a satisfyingly terse and rugged click. That’s the only way I can describe it in words, but I can promise that the way the hood snaps onto the front of this lens compared to the way other lenses do it would be similar to comparing sitting in a stadium chair at a little league game against relaxing in a truly comfortable leather couch in a mahogany scented library. Everything about this lens feels like that, making for a grand experience.

I have been following and reading here for a while. I was noting to my friend Al (Mookalafalas) that, while everyone here is obsessing about the 'lemon shaped' 'onion' bokeh, others are using this same photographic language to go to million dollar premieres and photographing million dollar actors!

Take a look a Reuters picture of Hugh Jackman in the second picture of this link:
http://www.bbc.co.uk …tertainment-arts-20592504 (external link)

Lemon shaped and onion bokeh, for certain! It was good enough for Reuters to go to Les Mis premiere and photograph Jackman in a picture that will circle the globe! Perhaps its enough for most of us amateurs and semi-pro fellows? (I´m not saying they used this lens, but it does feature the same characteristics as what is being discussed here!)

I'm certainly sold on this lens as the first Sigma that has caught my full attention! (I cannot say the same for the sigmalux, unfortunately! :( ). I now have to get the money for it, hope it does not raise price like the 30mm did, almost doubling its price after a few months out.

Keep the pictures coming (here and int the lens sample thread!), I'm enjoying each and everyone of them :) .

Best regards,
Rafa.

Not that any of you Sigma owners needs any more convincing, but the FStoppers review is out (external link) ;)

A teaser quote: "For me, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens just works, and might be have the best combination of speed and sharpness in and auto focus-enabled lens I have ever had the pleasure of shooting."

Comparison with 35L.

Markedly sharper wide open. I was waiting on an ultrafst prime till I got a camera with MFA; but this sigma could top that list early with the USB dock (can use as a walkaround on crop; and the point of the lens would be to use wide open)

Wow people have a lot of time to **** and moan about nothing.....

Get over it people. The Canon and the Sigma are both capable of making great photographs. Go take pictures with them.

If you're upset that Sigma is producing a better product for less money and with no little red ring on it and have to pixel peep at the bokeh to find some solace in your heart and to some how create a "meaningful reason" why your lens is still better I suggest you go have your insecurity and OCD checked out.

Or you could wait until the 35L II comes out and buy that if it makes you feel like more of a man/woman

It pains me to think that photography has become little more than a pissing contest of who has the best gear and not who has the ability to make the best or most original photographs.

Canon 5Dii, Sigma 24mm f1.8, Sigma 50mm f1.4, Sigma 85mm f1.4, Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX Macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro, Canon 135 f2L, Zenitar 16mm f2.8 fish eye (on the way)
A pile of ocf gear and modifiers.
