Tamron 28-200 XR Won't Work on my 10D

Is there anything I can do to make it work? I got a like new 28-200 XR Tamron [the newer model] and it shows the Err 99 message with most pics I try to take with it. Is there firware I can upgrade on my EOS 10D to make it work, or should I return this lens to the eBay seller I bought it from?

Hmm I'm going to go ahead and guess the Tamron is a APS-C lens only, and I'm pretty sure the 10D doesn't support that mount. But that's a total guess I don't really know.

The lens fits, it just shows the Err 99 message most of the time when I try to take photos with it on my 10D.

You can try cleaning the contacts on the lens and your 10D. If that doesn't do it, return it.

i'd just return it...there are probably better options out there anyways
