Congratulations, that has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read on this forum. Or any forum come to think of it

Don't you think that this is part of the marketing goal? I think a lot of people continually underestimate the marketing decisions that Canon makes. They don't have to be the most popular or well-liked. They have to make the most money. That is something that they are doing very well and stomping all over Nikon. A really good point! The other downgrades are not really that important. They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. I don't know that Canon Japan have any control over what prices your UK subsibiary/importer sets for the products. It is a strange situation for sure but then there are other European countries let alone middle eastern countries who pay a LOT more than the UK does for photographic equipment

Maybe we will one day get a government with balls, who thinks about economics and bans this kind of Global Multinational Price Fixing! Certainly would help the balance of payments deficit and leave more money in the UK, to try and fund a financial recovery! But on the other hand probably not; as one needs an IQ greater than 135 to comprehend that!

I just hope the moron in charge of this run away ship cans the 7D at Photokina - so I can sell mine for £2000 to fund my escape! Anyone disagree look at the Sony A99 = $2,800 / 1.58 = £1772 + £325 [cheapest flight to New York] = £2,097. or a 6D for £2,000! Being Serious this is so underwhelming it could shake Canons share price in 6 months time. I was waiting for the new FF, but seriuosly for the money I'll stay with my 7D! until the 6D Mk 2 comes out or I'll go 5DmkIII. No wonder they gave the 7D an upgrade - obviously the creative pot was empty! So, you just figure that Canon should offer it with the same specs as the 5DIII at 2/3 the price. That would be truly brilliant. Rick

Sep 18, 2012 16:37 | #58 Honestly, this is still better than my camera in every way, and still sounds better than a 5d Mk II, so I don't see what the fuss is. I want to see how it handles low-light photos and noise in general. Who knows, maybe this new sensor will be amazing. Its hard to know without speculating right now. I think they'd have a hit at about $200-300 cheaper, although that would probably get too close to the 5d Mk IIs market.

I wonder if it is possible to make the shutter faster with firmware I wonder if this isn't possible through a firmware update considering what just happened with the 7D. They can sell it, hold out until sales slow, then release a new firmware opening up some hidden backdoors they have already engineered into it. hmmm. I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.
