I have omar's number, somewhere, i'll have to dig it up and send him a message...

If the area is out of power, then the mobile phone towers will also be defunct right now too...

Always wise to keep one of those old, crappy - landlines that plug into the walls when power is out...

i agree we are told were loosing 2000-3000 landlines a day, everyone going voip, cable or straight cell, that is until something like this happens then we get a ton of orders installing landlines back in beach houses.

I was thinking that even if I did have the phone connected to the landline but no one else has it... who am I gonna call?

Lots of folks just have cells and no landlines. Or if they have landlines, their phones need to be plugged in to electric socket. :(

yep, most people have cordless.

Alot of folks dont know that usb chargers output 5v and if they get a 6v or 12v lawnmower battery they can charge thier cell phones right from thier battery, i have a 6v battery alittle bigger than a pack of cigaretts that i use when i go camping to charge my iphone.

In a pinch, just start up the car and get some juice from there. Most people have usb to cigarette plugs or actual power plugs in their cars already anyway. Not really efficient but works.

Oh not much, I'm through all of my dressing up for Halloween, so I'm relieved.

That's good to hear, hopefully there won't be too much long term damage throughout the city and everyone's lives can get back to normal quickly.

Yeah at last count we have over 1 million customers without power. It will take some time to get them all up and running.

Nice on the costume! CheatStrong!

Omar, The New York Daily News (my wife's company) on 4 New York Plaza got flooded too.

Yes sir! Happened at about 9PM last night. Had the weather channel on when they reported it.

The World Trade Center construction site is flooded which means Mayras work building on wall street is flooded as well.
