From my experience with flooding... cellphones still have coverage as long as the main lines are not cut off  at least in PI

The flooding in the east coast should subside in a few days... in PI it takes months. Some cities are banning use of plastic bags (with fines... where does that money go? Hmmm?) since they believe that's what clogs everything up.

yeap in some areas it takes months indeed... in others like Cebu it takes minutes :p

I think the only reason US suffers a lot coz the houses are flimsy... I mean why are a lot of houses made of wood there? if many of the houses in PI are wood the damage would be catastrophic every rainy season

You're (were) in the wood business so you should be happy. Wood is lighter and easier to transport and comparable in strength. Faster to put up and repair. Wood framing and drywall is typical houses here. In PI it's hollow blocks and concrete and custom made (kind of) except for the squatter and shanty houses in the city/provinces.

I took a beginning Japanese class in college. I was writing Kanji and Hiragana and the teacher commented how beautiful my writing was. I had no clue what I was doing but copying the lines. Must've been those La Salle penmanship classes.

still remember any? :P

i forgot most of the writings heheh. anime and japanese drama/shows helped me through the first semester of class. i pretty much sailed through it and i even used some kanji that wasnt taught yet so the teacher was impressed. of course i didnt do that until the end of the semester. dont want the teacher to expect too much of me ;) :p

one annoying thing was those anime otakus zzzzz.. at the beginning of class one guy's formal name was called and he corrected the teacher and insist to be called 'ryunosuke'
