still remember any? :P

i forgot most of the writings heheh. anime and japanese drama/shows helped me through the first semester of class. i pretty much sailed through it and i even used some kanji that wasnt taught yet so the teacher was impressed. of course i didnt do that until the end of the semester. dont want the teacher to expect too much of me ;) :p

one annoying thing was those anime otakus zzzzz.. at the beginning of class one guy's formal name was called and he corrected the teacher and insist to be called 'ryunosuke'

I only took one class and forgot most of it.

You're (were) in the wood business so you should be happy. Wood is lighter and easier to transport and comparable in strength. Faster to put up and repair. Wood framing and drywall is typical houses here. In PI it's hollow blocks and concrete and custom made (kind of) except for the squatter and shanty houses in the city/provinces.

Yeap exactly...if I am in the US I would be happy but a lot of low cost houses back home avoid using wood anymore :(

have fun! that thing is confusing ;p so you're in Japan as a student learning Japanese?

Yep currently learning the basics, can't really do any Jobs here without learning the Basics.

I wanna try part time Tutoring English to elementary students I just don't know if they would accept me or not. That's the only job that I think I am slightly qualified for now

I took a beginning Japanese class in college. I was writing Kanji and Hiragana and the teacher commented how beautiful my writing was. I had no clue what I was doing but copying the lines. Must've been those La Salle penmanship classes.

Haha nice... we just started with it but I studied in a chinese school all the way to high school so I have an idea how to write Kanji... the reading/understanding/memorizing of the meanings concerns more

i was glad most of my classmates are from western countries. I heard in some other schools you sometimes end up with a bunch of mainland Chinese on your class  It would suck to be the only guy to struggle with Kanji writing Haha

Haha that's why I am hesitant to teach English, I can't really speak in English very well, I can understand it like a native speaker and know the use of words but I am not confident about how I talk.

that's why I said tutor elementary students..probably just the basics, as long as they have a curriculum prepared it probably won't be too difficult.

From my experience with flooding... cellphones still have coverage as long as the main lines are not cut off  at least in PI

Only as long as the towers have power. No power to the near-by antennas and it doesn't matter how much charge your phone has. It can't reach the network.

Haha why would you wanna do that? You'll end up getting a Monthly salary of about the same as what you get in 3-4 days there in Hawaii

Yeap and most of the time the towers and power lines are high up and built better than homes so they usually end up not getting damage at all unless the power companies decide to cut power in certain areas due to risk.

We experience flooding every year back home so its not new to me :)

Wait, most of your powerlines run underground? So if it floods then they have to cut it off I guess.

Nope lots of our power lines are above ground and trees take them out. Then we have the odd exploding substation taking out a few square miles at a time.
