It was a cheapo anyways, I didn't like it. I always wanted a sturdy one so I can use my 70-200 lens as well. All I need is an L bracket that's designed for the battery grip. If you're getting a tripod, get a good one right away. I wanted to spend around $500 total but then I thought about it and I KNEW I would upgrade later on. So I had to spend over a thousand bucks to get a good setup including all of the plates, L bracket, clamp, etc. Once you buy a good set of legs, you'll never have to upgrade for a long while. I have two sets of Gitzo legs and they've never given me issues. I may pick up an RRS set up later.
