Made up news really, not gonna make a difference in prices... most sites will just use the good old "add to cart to see price!" trick

Well, I almost pulled the trigger on one. The power of the dark side is strong with me.

I did not know that but that may help my point. Just cause they do that doesn't mean that cannon should. What's wrong with being different.

Once you buy a good set of legs, you'll never have to upgrade for a long while. I have two sets of Gitzo legs and they've never given me issues. I may pick up an RRS set up later. :)

The legs I bought should last me a long long time. The only time I will upgrade is when I will lose them again or break them lol
I know you suggested the Acra Swiss but... I wanted the best o the best. Mother of all ballheads -- RRS BH-55 :)

yeah the D600 and the D800 have the solid thud sound while the 5D MKIII sounds like there are bells attached to the shutter ;)

Hehe. True!! I love my D600 shutter sound compared to 5D2. But I think my favorite is the 1DsIII. It just sounds so... Professional

No, you just made your butler blow smoke instead, right?

Actually don't have a butler. But if I did I would hope he would be no where near my butt.

I did not know that but that may help my point. Just cause they do that doesn't mean that cannon should. What's wrong with being different.

Hmmm let me explain why both of them are doing this:

You as a vendor provide merchandise to various retail outlets. You tell each of them that this is the minimum price they can sell a product at. Now lets say 9 of them are doing this and 1 (jerk) goes below that price point. What do you think happens? The 9 who are honoring the minimum price will complain.

The MSRP is there to protect retail outlets from having someone under cut them and it helps protect the profit margins of the vendor (Nikon and Canon).

This has become more paramount as people shop on line and purchase from different countries.

Not as easy as just because someone does then why should you. All Vendors participate in some form of this. Nikon and Canon are no different. They will use the ability to label you as an authorized dealer (which makes your retail store reputable) to enforce the MSRP.

EDIT: And those price points agreed to by the vendor and retailer are law binding as well.

I just got the RRS TVC-33 Tripod. I already had a very nice Gitzo Systematic 3 series, but earlier this year I bought a RRS monopod and was so blown away by the quality I just had to get their tripod.

It is awesome.

The diameter of the carbon fiber legs is like twice that of the Gitzo. Rock solid. Looks gorgeous with my BH-55 on it! http://reallyrightstuff.com …sa-Series-3-Tripod&key=it (external link)

I wonder why this is notconsidered price fixing and covered by anti trust
