The Lancaster which came from Hamilton went tech the day before and sadly couldn't fly, so the fighters formed up together. These are from Gatineau the morning of Sunday's show.

I watched them try several times to get it to crank but no go. A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

Thanks - it was the first time all weekend I had a chance to take some warbird shots and the Spitfire demo was really nice to see. cicopo wrote in post #15006605 Re the Lanc the # 4 engine wouldn't crank over. What matters is that they got it fixed on Sunday after the show and made it home on Sunday night. The old bird was a little stressed after flying down to Hamilton from Gatineau and back again on Saturday. It really is amazing how they make it all work with a lot of the original parts. Attila P.

cicopo Goldmember More info | Sep 20, 2012 20:45 | #8 Randy I must have almost bumped into you. I moved to the area you were shooting from just as they started shutting them down. I had been behind it as they fired them up & waited (& hoped) for the last one to start. A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

cicopo Goldmember More info | Sep 21, 2012 11:51 | #10 Yes it flew Sat, and I didn't get soaked thanks to the disposable rain poncho I've carried in my bag for the last 20 years. A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

I have wondered just how much of it engine wise might be original because that was my fathers trade back when it (from the info I've gathered) was in Greenwood. My father was aero engine on them & DC 3's while we were stationed there. It was the first thing I saw when the wife and self entered the show and I just had to get some shots! - we then proceeded to the spectator area and set up our chairs at the fence between two friendly photographers. One with a Canon FF + a rented 400mm lens, the other was shooting two Nikons, one mounted on a sophisticated tripod with a large lens, and a hand held with a big lens.
