riotshield Senior Member 425 posts Joined Apr 2011 More info | Sep 22, 2012 21:18 | #7 Nikon's G primes are newer and sharper than Canon's offerings, but you pay a premium for them of $100-250 more for the 28/50/85. The Canon 85mm 1.8 is a better value than the Nikon IMO - $140 cheaper and faster AF. On the other hand the Nikkors have a 5-year warranty vs 1 year on the Canons, although I think Canon's repair service is much much better. Ultimately I think it's a toss-up. I've decided to stick with Canon because there are a couple of high value lenses (17-40L, 135L) that make Canon more attractive to me.
