New Camera Or Lens?

Hello There.

I have a Canon 60D and a canon 18-55mm kit lens.
And the video quality dose not seem up to cop. (Up to standead)

And things seem blurry and horrible from distance.

Would a L lens make a HUGE difference to video quality instead on the 18-55mm Standead Kit Lens.

Or would a 5D MK III Be better.

Is the video quality/Dynamic range ect ect.
Better on a 5D MK III? Or is it the exact same to the 60D?

Or would a L lens make all the difference.
And make every thing look crisper. Even things far away at a distance.

Or would a 7D be better. But it seems an extra £200 for just a body.
When an extra £1700 for a 5D MK III would be for a lot more. Like quality correct??

You can't use a 18-55 on a FF, so if you want to upgrade you have to upgrade both.

In most cases I would buy glass before body. A 60D is not bad at all.

Sure it is. But you need to buy an EF lens otherwise you can't shoot with it.
What about a 5DII with a nice lens. Like a 24-70L?

You would probably get more input if you linked a video sample showing what you are describing. If could be the lens, or it could be user error. If user error, no lens will help. It would be a matter of improving your technique.

Yes its better when using it on the right way , love my copy of the 5D III but also like my 5D II....

Maybe you first have to learn to use your own equipment !!

Your photos will not get better by buying better equipment

The 60D is a very good body. When you know how to use it. For me the best option is invest in knowledge of photography and maybe in a better lens. (like the Canon 17-55 of 15-85)

It is not quite like shooting with a mini cam or something. Make sure the image you want is focused before shooting. Think short scenes. Focus and shoot the scene. Then move on to the next scene. Focus and shoot it. You can manual focus while shooting but that takes practice. Phase focus will cause the mirror to flip up momentarily and interrupt your shot.

Downside, focusing is a pain. Upside, out of scene background can be beautifully blurred. Practice and have fun.

Your link seems to be to a picture shot through a window rather than a video. I see no problem with the dynamic range. I don't think a new lens or camera would help in this case. Practice with your camera set-up and aperture setting. Then yes eventually a better lens will yield better images. The lens you have may not be top of the line but it is not bad either.

Iv'e had this camera way more than a few days.

This video here compares the 5D MK III & the 7D to gather and they seem to make the exact same general pixel quality.
ISO on the 5D will be 100X better but apart from that. They seem to be the same.

But it's the same quality with out the window.

Surely a better lens would make the video quality MUCH better?

As you can see the kit lens seems to really lack in quality on all settings.
When the 50mm really is clear.
