Cheapest way to test that is to rent some lenses if you are concerned your kit lens isn't up to your expectations.

You can also rent another camera body while you are at it just to rule out the body.

That seems to be one of the best options thanks! <3

So far I can see on the photo. Seems like a user Error !!
Its not a shame to have user errors. Every one has to learn ;-)a

Just make a photo on a tripod. With no window between the camera and subject.
Also supply the full exif information

What is your budget?

L lenses are at least $1K so I'm assuming you have a minimum of a grand to spend.

If this is true I recommend selling your kit lens and taking this cash along with your budgeted funds and purchasing the below prime lenses. If you are shooting a lot of video outdoors, also pick up a variable nd filter.

-Sigma 30mm 1.4 $375 used
-Canon 50mm 1.4 $325 used
-Canon 85mm 1.8 $315 used
-Fader ND Mark ii $125 new

If your budget is closer to $1.5K or $2K I recommend selling your 60d and purchasing a used 5d mkii or a 70-200 f4 IS in addition to the lenses above.

I promise you will see an enormous IQ improvement if you follow the above suggestions.

That is VERY useful.
Thanks.

I will if any thing look at the lenses above.
But i probably won't go for a 5D MK II cause i don't see the point.
When there's only better Mega pixels for photos.

And a better body build.

I have to agree here. I would invest in reading up on some articles online, or better yet, take a trip to your local B&N bookstore and buy a photography book or two. A 5DIII and L lenses are not going to help you at all.

The kit lens it ok, but its nothing special. Its not the sharpness king.
Shooting through a window and saying it doesn't look sharp is the least ideal photo to post.
EXIF data will help people help you :)
Its not the camera is what most people will tell you because the 7,60,600,550d's all have the same sensor and many people get great images from them. No one is saying you don't know what you're doing in an insulting way.

I think a 50mm will improve things IQ wise for you and the Sigma 30 is a good crop lens. :)
Happy shooting!

Here is the answer you wish one of us will tell you:

If you buy a Mark III, your first film will be purchased for the Cannes Film Festival, you'll get a huge distribution deal, and you'll be famous.

When I used the Mark III, it did the lighting automatically for me, my focus pulling automatically, my white balance automatically. It automatically chooses the camera angles for you, and it has different modes like Sci-Fi, Film Noire, Action, etc. that automatically edits your footage together into a movie for you automatically. It's automatic. It's also got an L microphone that picks up only the actor's voice and nothing else no matter where you put the camera.

And here is the reality:

These 2 cameras are tools. The 60D is miles above what was available to directors and filmmakers just 3 or 4 years ago. I suggest learning how to get good footage on your kit lens (I've seen a filmmaker use it on some commercials) and then upgrade once you've mastered that...

If it's blurry, it MAY be a defective unit you have, but most likely it's the way in which it's being used.

WARNING!: Before commenting that my color correction is horrible, please keep in mind that I am colorblind, and that hasn't stopped me from trying.

you do realize the 5D II has been used not only for independent films, but also to shoot actual TV shows? I'm pretty sure a episode of House was filmed entirely with 5D IIs.

Do you have a filter on the 18-55? If so, take it off.
Do you have the 18-55 IS that came with the 60D, or the old non-IS model?
Are you shooting RAW, JPEG, and what quality?
Did you shoot both test charts the same way, on the same camera, with different lens, or did you download the clear picture from the web?
Are you manually focusing the lens when shooting video, or just pointing it and recording?

The 60D and 7D have the same sensor. You will see no improvement in video between the two. The 5D2/3 would offer an improvement, but that is not the issue here.

This is really not the answer. If he is getting terrible results from a 60D, a more expensive camera is not the answer. Something is clearly wrong.

your right. it would be good to have some decent tests. It could be a case that there's a problem with the lens or the camera is front/back focusing.

this is where it gets harder. using a tripod and selecting a good target for testing, I would set the lens wide open and then at each stop at both zoom levels then checking the result and then going from there.

But either way it would require a trip to canon for repair.

You should look into getting some new "STM" lenses which are reasonably priced and specifically designed for Canon's video capabilities.
