I have been away for awhile both from Photography and the forum and being as old as I am I have forgotten some basics so please bear with me. In CS3 do you have to be in RAW to use the Clone tool or will it work on JPEGS? I can't seem to get it to perform.

Told you I have forgotten some basics.

It works in both. Are you placing the mouse over the part of the image you want to clone and then holding down the alt(windows)/option(mac) and then clicking?

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I am, however I get the "unable to complete due to program error" message..

No, Just as soon as I try to use it. It won't let me even start the process.

Not sure what the issue is. If it is a program error, the computer may need to be rebooted. If this does not work, the program may need to be uninstalled and then reinstalled.

In Camera Raw, the "clone" tool is good for dust spots, just click on the spot and you can mess with the "cloning circle" that appears.

For more "serious" cloning, you want the Photoshop editor. Opoen the image, select the Clone tool. Adjust your Brush settings to your taste. Press Alt and click on an area that you want to clone from, then click on your "target" and the "cloning" should show up (assuming a large enough brush size and opacity). Brush and the cloning area should "follow suit".

If this doesn't work, then, hmm...
