I don't know how many even realized how close the air show came to being halted Sat & I didn't (generally) intend to shoot the landings due to the distance & obstacles in the way but I did watch most landings through the viewfinder. I've missed the first bounce but knew the landing wasn't as planned so started shooting. Note that there were constantly changing gusts at almost 90 degrees to the runway & I think one caught him.

I've left a few frames out & from about there on he regained full control & probably took a deep sigh of relief. The full sequence is here & I sent them a link to it so they could see just how bad it looked from my vantage point.

Yikes, looks like it was really getting away from him! Glad he managed to get it wrangled. You're signature quote is very fitting to flying as well as photography, as noted in this series. Flying is very unforgiving, especially with equipment like this. Skill and attention is always demanded!

I spend too much on flying to have much equipment worth listing!

That Coulda been nasty! Unfortunately ive never been to a huge airshow. there just werent any in my area growing up. I plan to attend one soon as I do love aircraft. Doesnt it seem like there is a high percentage of crashes at shows all things considered? tons of videos out there of airshow crashes.

Fortunately it ended well & it was flown again on Sunday. The pilot / owner is very skilled & is one of the driving forces in Vintage Wings. He also flies a P 51 which was absent so I'm guessing it was being serviced. I'm sure he had his hands full for a few seconds & I think those who did notice the bounce were holding their breath.

Great sequence from the viewfinder - didn't he ground loop that one at YOW a few years back Larry ??
( ... not too hard to do, with that narrow undercarriage on a Spit)

Randy, Gear - 3 in the green, and a T5i with a few lenses !

Can't say that I've ever heard that but it may be true. Just happy it ended well & the show didn't skip a beat.
