Just saw this on B&H, is that a typo or a new lens that was just announced?

It's gotta be. A 20-200mm f/2.8 would be enormous and super expensive.

So it is a typo and they are referring to the 70-200 f2.8

Yeah, its a typo. Its the 70-200 VC USD. It and the 90mm VC USD macro are gonna be updates.

Yep.. if it were made, and performed well.. you would see a helluva lot of great lenses up for sale.. trying to get the funds to buy such a beastly lens.

I'm guessing something like that would be $5k-$8k..maybe more, and probably weigh 15lbs.+

That really would be a dream lens, if done properly!! :D

I'd prefer it to be a max aperture of f/1.4 though. f/1.0 would be nice but stupidly unrealistic

They'd have to omit VC, for weight and cost reasons. :p

Yeah, in theory a 20-200mm F2.8 would be great, but in reality, it would be way to big to make sense, not to mention astronomically expensive. There are similar lenses made for motion picture cameras, like the Panavision Primo 11:1 zoom (24-275mm T2.8) and the Angenieux Optimo 12:1 (24-290mm T2.8). The Angenieux weighs in over 24 pounds and almost 18 inches long and both have ungodly price tags. Of course cinema lenses have to meet different standards than still lenses (not to mention most cinema lenses are rented), but I would be surprised if Canon or whomever would build/sell such a lens for less than $10-15K or more even. (Look at the Cinema EOS 30-300mm lens!) Even if they did make such a lens for stills, who would want to lug a lens like that around all day?

But we can dream...right?!
