would you do it?

should i sell my 60D, 10-22 and my Tamron 28-75 for a 5d2? im hesitant becuase i love using the 10-22.

I'd still have a 50/1.4 and a 85/1.8 to use with it.

i would pick up a 17-40L eventually, just not sure when...

I am trying to sell my 10-22 as I have moved FF. I plan to replace it with a Samyang 14mm f2.8 as it is wider in both senses. It is also a lot cheaper. What do you think? How much do you zoom or do you nistly use 10mm?

i use it mainly as a zoom since its on a crop right now. i dont really use the 28-75 all that much, it not being able to replace the 10-22 range i enjoy now that holding me up. if i had the extra $500-$600 to buy the 17-40L i would would have made the 5d2 purchase all ready.

but now that winter is coming i spend most of my shooting indoors where the 50 on a 5d2 will do fine, and when i do a photoshoot i mainly use my 50mm, which i would switch to the 85. the 10-22 is just my fun lens.

If you use the 85mm a lot on your 60D, remember that it will give a wider field of view on the 5D2, so you many find that you want a longer prime lens, too. I loved using the 85mm f/1.8 on my crop bodies, so added a 135L when I bought a 5d3. My 85mm doesn't get used now (I really do need to sell it).

It seems to me that if you enjoy shooting the UWA focal range so much, it would be a really bad idea to put yourself in a place where you can no longer do so. Be better to save up for a while until you can work out both the body and lens update.

i dont use my 85 now.

You might find the Tamron gets more use on a FF camera because obviously you get a true 28mm as opposed to a reduced field of view on the 60d... Having said that, it's still nowhere near as wide as your 10-22 on the 60d. You'll probably find the 85 more usable as well, but it depends if you can do without the UWA as you say! Good luck

I sold my 10-22 and got a 5D2. Best decision I ever made. I say go for it!

I'd wait for the 6D. Better autofocus with more low light sensitivity, wifi and higher ISOs.

Why do you want to go FF? I suppose it depends on what youre shooting. The 60D autofocus points are all cross type and you may miss that feature. I know i cant live without outer cross AF points. 5Dii has no built in flash and cant trigger off camera speedlights like the 60D can. 5Dii shutter sync is 1/200 vs 1/250 on the 60D makes that bit of difference in certain situations. I would personally hang onto my 60D till the day it dies but if you can justify the reason for whanting to change to FF then go ahead. The plus side of the 5Dii would be a narrower depth of field, about a stop less of noise and slightly better IQ.

If you have Canon flashguns then you have high-speed sync which partially eliminates the 1/180 issue. Don't forget you can also use ISO 50 (i know that's on both the 5d2 and the 6d), for wide apertures if that helps. I think the noise performance of the 6d will be a lot better than the 5d2, but I guess it depends what's important to you!

I would do that trade in a heartbeat! However, like you said, you would have to pick up a WA and a maybe a 24-105 or some third party equivilent.

Having done something similar in years past, I would do that in a heartbeat. You can a refurbed 17-40 from Canon USA for a good price. With 17-40 on FF you will not have the distortion you get with a 10-22 on a crop body.

i shoot mainly portraits, at least thats where my side income comes in. i shoots all sorts of stuff for fun.

the 5d2 i believe, or so i hear, has way better iso noise control than my 60D. i mainly use center point AF, but i have on occasion used the outside to compose when using a very shallow DOF. its always in good light with static subjects so lack of cross point outer AF isn't a concern.

i don't use the wireless flash control (i have radio triggers) and i rarely, if ever, use on-board flash.

im looking for better IQ out of my 50 and 85mm lenses mainly. i know I'll pick up a 17-40L eventually, just not right away, and i dont think i'll miss it now that summer is over and i dont do landscape photography all that much in the winter.
