Just now realized that my OS is not working in my lens, won't turn on or spin up or nothing no matter what I do...

...any suggestions or is this a trip to sigma? ugh

Correction... there is still a slight high pitch sound if you put your ear on the lens just like there use to be but it's intermittent and it's simply not working... this blows :(

try pics with and without OS turned on... make sure you shoot at 200mm and somewhere around 1/60 to 1/100 to see how its doing

it sucks to have to repair something that isn't all that old, but it would suck more if you had to do it and there were no warranty to protect you!

The OS on the Sigma 70-200 is fairly well audible, so if there is no initial click, ending click, etc, then it's broken. Also, considering that it's at least a 3-stop OS system, it's very easy to tell at 200mm whether the OS is working or not.

to know if it's working, put your camera in live view...10X zoom...half press the shutter...if you can't see it stabilize, then i suggest sending it to sigma...

Guys you don't get it... with the Sigma when the OS is on the viewfinder locks in and is rock solid steady but nothing. No audible clicking just a slight high pitch noise..

I have no idea how much this is gonna cost either ugh.

Guys you don't get it... .

That's why we were asking for more info. You just mentioned noise and sometimes stabilization isn't that audible.

As for cost, the lens should have a 4 year warranty and it hasn't even been out that long, so you should be covered aside from shipping costs to Sigma.

Ya sorry. It's official it's not working.

As far as the warranty goes... I'm 2nd owner. I don't have the invoice when the guy purchased it. I do have a packing slip from amazon with the sales price on it. this was one of the $950 specials that happened last year. I hope that will count as an invoice.

If I send this in I might as well send in my sigma for a cleaning.

You think that packing slip will be good enough info? I have the blank warranty card on both of these but no invoices.

Talley, exacly the same symptom I had a couple of weeks ago with my Sigma 120-300 2.8 OS

If I turned off autofocus I could hear a weak summing from the lens when half pressing shutter button indicating OS motor was working (OS set to ON), but there was no working OS, probably a mechanical failure if I should guess.

I guess you need to send it in for repair

i wouldn't send both your sigmas in with the same box...if your 70-200OS takes weeks to repair, there's no sense in being out the 30mm as well...

you can try and register the lens online...if you have a date on the invoice slip, and it says amazon i'd think you might be alright

.

It may. Do you still have contact info for the original owner? They may be willing to log into amazon and print a real invoice for you.
