Typical, I think we will be seeing this trend for a while. I remember everyone thinking the 5D3 and 1Dx would be the day Canon caught up with nikons DR.... well that didnt happen lol.

Dying to see what the Leica M can do. ;)

Does it matter? DxO scores have never accurately reflected how things work in my experience. What they measure does not line up with what I see, and I have used several of the cameras and lenses they have rated.

Some of their lens ratings are especially hilarious. I honestly do not understand why people continue to link their results when they are so obviously wrong so often.

x1 Probably beacuse there isn't any other site that do meassures like they do.. I actually don't care what DXO scores something, And there are a lot of people that swear by DXO Results.

I think the best idea on how a camera can perform is download some raws and do your own post, and see if that raw can handle your post process flow. I really can't wait to see some raws available to download.

if anything, these scores give you an unrealistic expectation of how the sensor performs. I was looking at the ISO comparisons, and the D600 and 5D3 look very close in high ISO.... I thought the canon looked slightly better tbh.

there's a 13% difference in scores, but I cant find that 13% when doing a side by side compare. If you have to push the shadows by massive amounts, you might see an issue, but then again, havent ran into these issues in practice.

as good as the scores are, I've seen the 1DX slaughter the D4 in a few reviews, which have nothing to do with the scores

13% difference in scores does not reflect 13% difference in quality of the actual photos, this is just a technical benchmark not a real world benchmark. It is still useful to know that the D600 has 14 EV of dynamic range and good low noise high ISO.
As I recall the 5D3 is only around 12 EV dynamic range, so the D600 is probably better for landscapes.

DXO heavily weighs DR. The new Nikon/Sony/Pentax sensors have considerably more DR. That's the score.

Recent Nikon bodies do have greater DR and MP, but but not 13% difference in compared to 5D III. and regarding ISO performance 5D III has the edge, however they rated Nikon bodies higher in sport ( high ISO noise reduction)!!!!!

D600 Score: 94
5D III Score: 81 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, how about 6D score????? may be 75 :mad:

Its going to be an hilarious day if its better than the 5D III ...

Its obvious that something in their testing is favoring Nikon.

Ignore the total score as that's a subjective number and look at what features of the sensor are actually being tested. All it's telling us is the D600 has more dynamic range and megapixels.

I find these threads hilarious. When it supports the Canon is better argument, people are all about DXO. When it says Nikon is better, they're suddenly crap. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

DXO never says Canon is better. ;)
