The 6d will sell fine. So many people are reacting to a spec sheet and condemning it. Its not even out yet! LOL!! The 5d3 was brutalized as well when announced.

I Agree. I was just looking at the official release thread from when the 5D Mark II came out and there was plenty of hate. While its not enough for me to replace anything I think the 6D is a fine camera and will do well in the market.

5D3 was brutalized at announcement because of its MSRP. And that's mostly because D800 was announced just earlier and cheaper. Otherwise, I think 5D3 would have received a more favorable fanfare.

It does amaze me at how many can make a decision before the first batch of products are shipped. There are only a handful of hand selected pics available and maybe another handful of posts from people that actually got to touch one but yet so many can proclaim that this is a piece of junk not worthy of being considered.

BTW, I too remember the bashing and gnashing of teeth over the intro of the MkIII for I was one of those sorely disappointed. If you compare spec sheet to speck sheet the MkIII is a MkII with a better AF and a few bells and whistles I would never use anyway. Now that it's out and in peoples hands I would venture a guess that the general consensus is that the MkIII is significantly more than it's spec sheet.

records coordinates of where pic was taken and sticks it into EXIF.

I'm thinking about adding a FF camera to add to to my 7D so for me the smaller size of the 6D, no joystick, general layout would give the edge to the 5D2. Plus the 5D2 has a higher synch speed and higher max shutter speed which I find nice. However the big if is how the new 11pt AF works in practice plus possible gains in dynamic range and noise performanace of the 6D over the 5D2.

Canon should continue 5d2, and priced it around 1500 MSRP
6D should be something with focus system of 7D, or at least has the same central focus point as 5d2.. with compact body and wifi/gps

This is the perfect line-up IMO

Now what I can do is just to wait for 5d4...

Fly me away.

In my humble non-professional opinion, Canon will discontinue the 5D2 when the 6D is released. If you want a new 5D2, get it now. The 5D2 was the gateway drug, sorry - camera, from APS-c to full-frame.

The 6D was designed to get people to upgrade from Rebels and the 60D. It offers the 7D user nothing but full-frame, and slightly more versatile AF customizing, and slightly different MFA. Those upgrading from a 60D, find the same (basically) button/control layout on a full-frame body. They (read I) also get AF customizability, and real MFA that works on both ends of zooms. I never use the pop-up flash, except as a flash-commander, which one of my 550EXs will do just fine. The 6D is interesting.

I have been considering adding a ff body and 24-105 to my gear. The 6D takes the 5D2 right off the table, for me. It is now either 6D or 5D3. Waiting on professional reviews, but still biased toward the 5D3. I wasted way too much money buying compromise lenses the first time around. From now on I will get what I want the first time.

edit: I forgot to add that I find gps and wifi kind of stupid on a camera. GPS? I doubt that I will ever take my camera somewhere and not know where I am. Subject matter can help, too. "Did I shoot this Eiffel Tower shot in Paris, or was it Birmingham?" Wifi? What the card doesn't come out of the camera? My cell phone contract is up in December. Done with that! I can live with out the entire world having 24/7 access to me. No thanks. GPS/WIFI, I'll never use them. Fair trade, my 60D has a useless (to me - C'mon!) flippy screen.
