Hey guys... I'm debating between these two so I picked both up from Amazon (very good price compared to Kirk/RRS).

I find the construction quality to be very good on the bracket and plate. My only worry is whether or not the L bracket will be too bulky for me to use. This, of course, has nothing to do with Sunwayfoto's bracket as I suspect that I may find any L bracket to be bulky. Anyway, I'm going to play around with them for a bit and see if I think I could get used to using the camera with the bracket on.

Anyway, here are pics below for your viewing pleasure.

Conclusion:

TBD... I think the construction quality of these are very good but at this point I just don't know whether or not I want an L bracket due to the bulk it adds. Then if I decide I just want a plate, then do I really need a plate that's designed to fit my camera perfectly when I could save $20 or so by getting a universal plate?

That looks pretty bulky compared to my Kirk.

Bumping this topic to ask if anyone else is using the Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIII with their 5D Mark III?

I've pretty much decided that I don't want to go with the RRS L-bracket. I'd pick the Kirk L-bracket in a heartbeat because of its ability to be slid sideways and give extra attachment room at the cable ports. But I've read several reports that the Kirk L-bracket fits so snug against the camera's neck strap lug, you can't have a camera strap on the camera at the same time (I don't want to deal with installing/removing the extra strap lug part Kirk provides, particularly since it's a different hex screw head size than the one on the bottom of the camera... what a hassle!).

Anyway, this Sunwayfoto L-bracket looks to fit the camera pretty darn well. Apparently better contoured to the camera than the RRS bracket. It doesn't look any more bulky to me than either the RRS or the Kirk. But before I pull the trigger I'd like to hear from some other owners if possible. Any issues? Any marring to the camera body after the bracket has been on for awhile?

Thanks!

Mark

Bulky compared to the RRS L-bracket but looks like a nice fit.

Mark, I initially looked at the Sunwayfoto but opted for the RRS for my 7D. The RRS is adjustable (slides), accommodates cables easily and is anodized rather than painted as stated in the Amazon review.http://www.amazon.com …?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 (external link)

The construction and design of the RRS is excellent. I use mine with a hand strap and sometimes simultaneously with a neck strap via OpTech Adapt-Its.
I consider the RRS L plate and clamp to be one of the best accessory purchase one can make. When I think of the $$$$ laid out for all the various "gottahaves", the few additional bucks spent for the RRS was a no brainer.
